Doulon

Doulon is old a common of Loire-Atlantique, bordering on Nantes (in the east), and attached to the latter by the law of April 3rd 1908, under the mandate of Paul-Emile Sarradin. Its territory corresponded roughly to the one of the 11 districts current of the city: that of “Doulon-Bottière”

History

Doulon for a long time was divided into two parishes each one inhabited by two often antagonistic social classes:

  • "All-Aides" with its workmen and its railwaymen, profiting from the proximity of the manufacture of the tobaccos and the station from Orleans to Nantes,
  • " Old man-Doulon" with its farmers (primarily of the market-gardeners).

This social diversity maintaining sometimes, a certain competition enters the parochial clubs and association S laymen and workers (in particular on the sporting level).

Nowadays, Doulon always keeps its administrative specificity within the town of Nantes, thanks to the presence of a city hall annex and the designation of a " associated spécial".
