Doullens is a common French, located in the department of the Somme and the area Picardy.

Geography

Doullens, small town (in the North of the Sum and close to the Pas-de-Calais) which sprinkles the Authie, is practically halfway with the intersection of these axes:

Chronology

The city is joined together with the Couronne in 1225. Fortified town important, Doullens is burned by Louis XI to punish it to be itself openly put side of Charles Bold the.
  • July 24th 1595: Battle of Doullens: whereas the Spaniards and the Ligue were beaten in June with Fountain-Frenchwoman, a Spanish army hustles the royal army with Doullens (600 killed gentlemen). In the catch of Doullens which follows, 4000 people are massacred.

  • May 2nd 1598: with the Peace of Vervins, Doullens makes return to France

  • 1937 : The city celebrates with a certain ostentation the 5th Centenary of the Archers of Doullens. Most of the population takes part in musical and dressed up animation: parades, processions, etc whose installation is under the “patronage” of Léo Lagrange, under-secretary of State of the Organization of the Leisures and the Sports, qualified at the time, in the national press, by the opponents of right-hand side and extreme-right-hand side of “Minister for the idleness”. This festival proceeds June 19th and 20th 1937, just the resignation day before of Leon Blum.

The identity of the participants and observers to these “alive tables” could be found, thanks to a small booklet, the “program” published for the occasion.
