Douglas Gordon

Douglas Gordon is a Scottish contemporary artist . He lives and works with Glasgow (Scotland) or he was born in 1966.

Biography

Douglas Gordon studied in Glasgow of 1984 with 1988, then with London, of 1988 with 1990 with the Slade School off Art.

It presents its first personal exposure to London in 1995, obtains the Turner Prize the following year. It is the first time that the latter is allotted to an artist Vidéo.

Especially known like a video Artist, Douglas Gordon uses varied forms of expression: mural projections vidéos, photographs, installations and texts.

" It is undoubtedly one of the artists who most vigorously rejects the concept of personal style. He works on the appropriation of images which he diverts, puts in scene in a context différent." Accordingly the exposures become the essential component of the expression of the artist.

In 1998, it obtains the second Prix Hugo Boss.

  • 2006: Zidane, a portrait of the 21st century , feature-length film Co-carried out with Philippe Parreno.
