Doug Watkins

Douglas Watkins (1934 - 1962) was a Bassiste of American Jazz of style Hard bop.

Founding member of the " Jazz Messengers " of Art Blakey, he also played in the orchestras of Horace Silver and Charles Mingus. He also played with Gene Ammons, Kenny Burrell, Donald Byrd, Art Farmer, Jackie McLean, Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan, Sony Rollins and Phil Woods. He recorded only two albums under his name before dying in an car accident.
