Douet Tourtelle

Localization

The Douet Tourtelle is a small river which takes its source with 155 meters of altitude to the locality Saint-Saver in the commune of Épaignes in the Département of the Eure. This river crosses the communes of the Vault-Bayvel and Cormeilles before throwing in the Calonne with Saint-Pierre-of-Cormeilles with the locality the Moulin of Malou located at 59 m of altitude.

Characteristics

To note that the Douet Tourtelle is used to delimit the communes of Épaignes and Saint-Sylvestre-of-Cormeilles, then communes of the Vault-Bayvel and Saint-Sylvestre-of-Cormeilles, then communes of the Vault-Bayvel and Cormeilles and finally communes of Cormeilles and Saint-Pierre-of-Cormeilles.

Ecology

The valley of the Douet Tourtelle , on the level of the locality the Place Baron (Cormeilles), was classified natural zone of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest of type I by the Regional management of the Environment of High-Normandy. Its floristic interest is important with the presence, within the wet meadows bordering the river, of rather rare species like the humble scorsonère ('' Scorzonera humilis '') and the verticillate carum ('' Carum verticillatum ''). This zone belongs to the rare sites which shelter the orchis with loose flowers ( Anacamptis will laxiflora ), protected at the regional level. A danger weighs on these species, with the abandonment, by the Man, of these wet meadows.

The valley of the Douet Tourtelle was also classified significant Natural space (ENS) by the Département of the Eure.

Visit/Découverte

A circuit guided and with accompanying notes (the path of the biodiversity) was set up by the Community of Communes of the canton of Cormeilles in collaboration with the academy of the Naturels sites of High-Normandy to discover the charms of the valley of the Douet Tourtelle .
