A dorsal Internet ( Internet backbone in English), is a Data-processing network belonging to the networks long distance moreover high banc of Internet.
The original dorsal of Internet was ARPANET. In 1989 the dorsal NSFNet was created parallel to the network MILNET of the American Armée, and ARPANET ceased existing. Finally the network architecture sufficiently evolved/moved to make obsolete the centralization of the Routage. Since the end of NSFNet the April 30th 1995, Internet rests entirely on networks belonging to Entreprise S of services Internet.
One speaks sometimes still about “the Internet backbone” although this concept does not recover anything any more defined well: no network is officially in the middle of Internet.
Bubble Internet
With the Bubble Internet, considerable investments allowed the construction of thousands of kilometers of network throughout the world. At the time of the bursting of the bubble, many companies went bankrupt, or came very close to bankruptcy. The European dorsal Ebone in particular had to cease its activities, without apparent damage for the operation of Internet.
In the middle of the Years 2000, one speaks about “black fiber” to name all the fiberoptic which was installed to build dorsals, but which is never taking up the duties or remained extinct.
Flows of the dorsals
The flow can precisely go until several GBits by employing connections in particular to Fiberoptic. In laboratory, these connections can reach several To/s (Tera- Octets a second).
