December 27th: Traité of Methuen, commercial treaty enters the Portugal and the England. Agreements concluded with Lisbon between the former British ambassador John Methuen, rich negotiating in textile, and two of the richest Portuguese owners of vineyards, the marquis d' Alagrete and the duke of Cadaval, ratified the following year by their government respective. The English fabrics will be able to penetrate with the Portugal without restriction. The Portuguese wines obtain a reduction of the customs duties of the third compared to French competition.
