Dorothée de Brandebourg

Dorothée de Brandebourg (1430 - 1495) married Christophe of Bavaria, then Christian Ier of Denmark. It is also known under the names of Dorothée d' Hohenzollern and Dorothée Achillies.

It was born in 1430 or 1431, girl of the margrave Jean IV of Brandebourg-Külmbach, and Barbara of Saxony, duchess of Anhalt. She had two sisters: Barbara (1423-1481), which became duchess of Milan, and Elisabeth (14?? - 1451), which married Joachim Ier Mlodszy, duke of Poméranie (14?? - 1451).

She married initially Christophe of Bavaria, king de Danemark, of Norway and Sweden on September 12th, 1445. With died of this one, she married her successor, king Christian Ier of Denmark, on October 28th, 1449. She had five children at the time of this second marriage:

It soutenut her son junior, Frederic Ier, against his oldest son, Jean Ier, in his claims with the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein and it succeeds there partially, Frederic while having received half. It failed on the other hand to make divide same manner Sweden and Norway.

It mourrut on November 25th, 1495 and is buried beside her husband, in the cathedral of Roskilde.
