Doom II: Hell one Earth
Doom II: Hell one Earth is a play of Id Software making following the first shutter, Doom .
Principle
The play proceeds on arrival on marine Earth of the space . But once arrived, he realizes that the demon S attacked the Ground and destroyed a good part of the world population. The decorations represent land buildings. The charts are the majority large and spaced.
Universe
The creators recreated a universe resembling the Earth (factories, restaurants, barracks, buildings…). In spite of this resemblance with the Earth, the integration of unreal makes environment particular. The charts are very large when one compares them with those of Doom. The important impression of space reinforces this impression of freedom and capacity of movement. The number of enemies was increased by level, which increases the difficulty which remains progressive. The buildings comprise several stages, thus increasing mobility by level. The walls, ceilings and grounds can represent tar, stones, ground, prefabricated walls, wood, windows… but also of the organic matters brought by the invaders démoniaques: walls made with human craniums or blood.
To give even more the impression to the player to be on Earth, of the man power zombifiées is present. This in order to show that the Earth was attacked by the Demons and that even the armed forces of all the nations did not resist the invasion. That gives to the player the impression to be a Héros saving the Earth of the chaos of the despair caused by the démoniaques armies.
Improvements
The incorporation of new weapons like the super shotgun (gun rifle doubles, version more powerful than simple gun rifle but also longer to reload) and of new monsters such as Mancubus, the Ghost, Elemental Bread, as well as other horrors coming from imagination of the developers from Id Software.Textures of the play (integrated in a new file .WAD ) also were re-examined and improved.
Polemic
Doom had already caused many polemics from its realistic side and violent one. Although being the continuation of Doom , this second episode uses the same graphic engine (the Doom engine). However Doom II was regarded as being a fascistic and dangerous play because of its secret levels:-
the secret level 31 where one could see the portraits of Adolf Hitler was shown to promote Fascism. This level was, of course, a wink with Wolfenstein 3D which took again the first level of the first play 3D of the editor Id Software.
-
the secret level 32 (named " Grosse") was shown to encourage the child murders because the player was to complete children hung to finish the level. Although morbid, the experts will have recognized all Commander Keen , the character fetish of the first play with success of id Software.
