Donovan (of its complete name Donovan Philip Leitch ), born the May 10th 1946 in the district of Maryhill with Glasgow (Scotland) is a British musician .
Biography
He learns the Guitare at the fourteen years age. Woody Guthrie and Ramblin' Jack Elliot appears among the influences which nourish its musical culture. Its career begins in 1965 at the time of an emission from English TV which makes known it near the general public. It meets Mickie Most the producer of the Animals and Herman' S Hermits who makes it record with the largest musicians of studio of the time: Jack Bruce, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. Between 1965 and 1970, it connects successes, with discs which confirm its talent of large melodist: Colors in 1965, Mellow Yellow in 1966, Hurdy Gurdy Man in 1968 and Lalena in 1969.Very good instrumentalist, it binds friendship with English musicians, such as Brian Jones, guitarist of the Rolling Stones (of which it raises the son), or The Beatles, for which it sings among the choruses of the song Yellow Submarine (of which the words " Sky off blue and see off green" are of him). He teaches in particular with John Lennon and Georges Harrison his technique with the guitar of picking during the stay of the Beatles in India in spring 1968.
He takes part in the currents psychedelic, Flower power and pacifist of the the Sixties, and militates against the Guerre of Vietnam.
