Donnelay
Donnelay is a common French located in the department of the the Moselle in Lorraine.
Geography
Donnelay belongs to the Saulnois and the Regional natural park of Lorraine. The pond of Daughter-in-law is on the territory of the commune.
History
To the 8th century the village belonged to the abbey of Wissembourg.It becomes follows a stronghold of the évêché of Metz, before being yielded to collegial of Fénétrange in 1461. From 1565 to 1661 these canons will take refuge in Donnelay to escape the Réforme.
The Treated of Vincennes of February 28th, 1661 between Louis XIV and Charles IV of Lorraine envisages the transfer in France of a one half-league broad channel between Metz and Phalsbourg. The commune becomes then a French possession and fact part of the baillage of Sarrebourg.
It named Dunningen during the German annexation of 1870-1918.
Administration
In 1794, the village was called Donneley . In 1790, it belonged to the canton of Bourdonnay.

- Lazare Levy: mayor in 1806, took part the General meeting of the Jews convened by Napoleon in 1806.
- Claude-Simon de Mandres (Amance 1728-Paris 1803) was cleaned of Donnelay. He invented an engine for boats which was used on the Rhine.
- Michel Alcan, born on May 24th, 1810 in Donnelay, dead on January 26th, 1877, engineer of the central School of arts and manufactures, appointed in 1848-1849.
