Donji Tavankut
Donji Tavankut or Tavankut , in Serb Cyrillic ДоњиТаванкут or Таванкут and in Hungarian Alsó-Tavankút, is a locality of Serbia located in the autonomous province of Voïvodine. It belongs to the municipality of Subotica in the district of Bačka septentrional. In 2002, it counted: 2631 inhabitants, including Croatian 46,9% of , 29,91% of Bunjevci, Serb 7,22% of and 4,45% of Hungarian.
Officially classified among the villages of Serbia, Tavankut includes/understands several communutés (" kraj") relatively separate, like Čikerija (or Čekerija ), Sajc (or Nemirna ravnica ), Vuković Kraj, Marinkić Kraj, Zlatni Kraj, Skenderovo, Dikanovac, Kaponja (or Kapunja).
The city has two stations (Donji Tavankut and Skenderovo) on the railway line which leads Subotica to Sombor (and with Bezdan, Apatin or Erdut).
Tavankut was formerly famous for its production of wine. However the city recently converted in the culture of apples.
