The donation of Pip or treated of Quierzy , in 754, creates the Papal States.
At the time of the voyage in France of 754 of the pope Etienne II, Pépin the Brief receives it in its Villa of Quierzy-on-Oise in January. On this occasion a treaty is signed creating the Papal States by the donation of the Exarchat de Ravenne, the Corsica , the Sardinia and the Sicily with the pope. N the other hand, this one recognizes the Carolingian dynasty and approves relegation with the convent which was imposed to the king mérovingien Childéric III. This donation is confirmed in 774, in Rome, by Charlemagne, wire of Pip.
The donation of Pip would be a false bench by the the Holy See on the basis of forgery other, the Donation of Constantin, even if Pip and especially Charlemagne confirm it thereafter. ----
