Domnall mac Caustantín

Domnall mac Caustantín King of the Scots of Dalriada of 781 with 805?.

Contrary to the " Synchronisms of Mainstreach" Blank; who indicates it like Domnall mac Custantin, the Duan Albanach grants to king Domnall, without however naming the name of his father, reign a 24 years located right before that of Conall mac Tagd which would have itself reigned 2 years before being killed in 807. On this chronological basis the reign of Domnall on the Dalriada could be gone back to 781 with 805.

Irish annals, it is true lacunar for this time, does not mention Domnall but quotes Donncoirce as king of the Dalriada died in 792. The last former date raised concerning the Dalriada is that of died of Fergus mac Echdach (781)

Alfred P. Smyth agrees to regard Domnall as a son of the king Constantin mac Fergus, resulting from the dynasty of Dalriada which would have reigned on this area while his/her putative father reigned on the Pictes before linking the two kingdoms in 811. It seems in fact that the Dalriada was divided at that time between several sovereigns.
