Dominique Venner , born the April 16th 1935, is a Journaliste and writer French, former militant of the Extrême French right-hand side, author of several historical tests.

Biography

Years of militancy

Its Histoire of the Red Army obtained the Broquette-Gonin Price of history of the French Academy in 1981.

Among his last works, one will note in particular Histoire and tradition of Europeans (2002), work in which the author defines what, according to him, would constitute the bases of the European culture and the new concept of tradition.

After having been director of the drafting of the review Investigation into the history , disappeared at the end from the Years 1990, it founds in 2002 and directs the drafting of two-monthly the the New Review of History , renamed temporarily the NRH in 2006, where intervene of the personalities as various as Bernard Lugan, Jean Tulard, Aymeric Chauprade, Alain Decaux, François-Georges Dreyfus or Jacqueline de Romilly. According to the political economist Gwendal Châton, the activity of historian of Dominique Venner “is integrated in a skilful strategy of conquest of a new respectability: that of the intellectual” where “it is about instrumentaliser the history to put it at the service of the cultural combat”; “the “traditionism”, the recourse to the history and the European tradition, is thus only one veil rhetoric masking an ideological continuity” and Dominique Venner, via his historical reviews would be devoted to “handling of the history, operated by the use of various strategies rhetorics”.
