Dominique Sopo

Dominique Sopo (born with Valencian the July 30th 1976) is the president of S.O.S Racism since June 2003.

Biography

Dominique Sopo was born in 1976 from a French mother and a father Togo French alluvium naturalized in 1993. His/her father came to France in 1966 to follow studies of mechanics there. Set out again to the Togo in 1969, it returns to settle definitively in France since 1970 while working in auto industry like supervisor.

It made all its schooling until the baccalaureat with Valencian in the north of France, then went to Paris to follow studies of Political sciences to the IEP of Paris (which it will leave graduate in 1997), and of economy at the university Paris I which carried out it until an aggregation of economic scenes and social obtained in 2003.

Dominique Sopo started to invest himself in associations in 1995 - 1996 by trade unionism studying within the UNEF-ID for which it will be responsible for the Paris region in 1998 - 1999. He adhered to the Mouvement young Socialists at the same time and in addition adhered to S.O.S Racism in 1996 insofar as it seemed important to him to fight against racial discriminations and to be invested in an association which preaches without ambiguity the “food-together”. He more invested himself with S.O.S Racism in 1999 when Malek Boutih took the head of association (because he created a rupture compared to the speech Antiraciste which was at the time in shift with reality since centered on the questions of integration whereas the problem was rather discrimination).

He worked near Malek Boutih in the national office until his election with the presidency in June 2003.

He published in 2005 S.O.S Antiracism (Denoël editions) in which he is caught some in sharp terms with the drifts of the Antiracisme and diverting that various tendencies made him undergo.

He was, with S.O.S Racism, one of the initiators of creation, in February 2005, of the Collective Darfur urgency.

Mission of mediation

Wednesday, October 4, 2006, Dominique Sopo, with Patrick Gaubert, president of the international League against racism and the anti-semitism, accepted a “mission of mediation” in the business of expelled of Cachan.
