Dominique Kalifa

Dominique Kalifa , born in 1957, is a historian French, specialist in the history of the crime and its representations to the {{Romanian|XIX}} {{E}} and during the first {{S|XX|E}}. It is Professor of the universities to the university Paris-I Pantheon-Sorbonne where it Co-directs the Center of history of the {{S|XIX|E}}.

Biography

Former student of the National university of Saint-Cloud, aggregate of history, Dominique Kalifa worked under the direction of Michelle Perrot, for his thesis with Paris-VIi in 1994, and of Alain Corbin, which presented its dossier of enabling and with which it succeeded the Sorbonne in 2002.

He worked on the accounts of crimes and the sedentary crisis of the beginning of the 20th century ( Ink and Blood , 1995), writes the first book devoted to the trade of private detective ( Naissance of the police force private , 2000) and reflected on the history of the mass culture ( Mass culture in France ). With the historian Philippe Artières, it wrote in 2001 an experimental work, Vidal the killer of women. A social biography , entirely composed of extracts of files assembled in a biographical account. Its principal articles were joined together in 2005 in a work entitled Crime and culture at the 19th century . Its current research carries on the bagnes military French and the imaginary one of " Biribi".

Since 1990, Dominique Kalifa is also collaborator of the literary supplement of the daily newspaper Libération .
