The Saint-Maurice church and his organ
The current church was built in the center of the village towards 1732 - 1734, to replace the medieval church located outside. Its Orgue is particularly remarkable. It comes from the church of Cordeliers of Toul. Become quite national, the personal property of the religious communities of Toul removed was sold on April 10th, 1793 with the communes of the Resident of Toul for their parish churches. Thus the organ of Cordeliers was sold in Domgermain for 150 pounds. The instrument, according to an inscription handwritten dated March 12th, 1720 and stuck in the diagrid of the large organ, was produced by “Charles Cachet, factor residing now at Toul, soub the gardiennat of the reverend Perre Barthelemy, guard of brooding of Toul”. A repair was carried out by Georges Küttinger of Nancy in 1775, as another inscription in the instrument indicates it. The transfer of the organ to Domgermain in 1793 involved some modifications in the dressers of the large organ and the positive one. At the 19th century, the instrument was maintained and modified by Cuvillier, factors with Nancy, and of work were again undertaken in 1968 per Georges Nehlig. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Association of the friends of the organ of Domgermain, founded in 1980, and municipality, the organ was completely restored, by Didier Chanon, and was inaugurated in 1994 by concerts of Michel Chapuis and Jean-Charles Ablitzer. With its twenty plays distributed out of the three keyboards and the pedals, the restored instrument is ideal for the French music of the end of 18th and the beginning of the 18th century.
A table of François Senémont, representing a rise , decorated (or decorates still) the church.
