Domenico Maria Novara

Domenico Maria Novara or Domenico Maria Novara da Ferrara (born in 1454 with Ferrare - died in 1504) was a Italian Astronome , raises Regiomontanus, which practiced the Astrologie and taught the Astronomie with the Université of Bologna of 1483 with 1504.

There did not exist, at the time, of clear distinction between the two disciplines and the first often financed the second. By bad luck, only to the Almanach S still testify to the work of Novara. It was however a spirit shining and free and had the privilege to have for pupil, assistant and collaborator, of 1496 with 1500, a character which one will retain the name: Nicolas Copernic.

He was the witness of the first remarkable observation of his disciple as attests some De Revolutionibus orbium caelestium . Both were conscious that the days of the geocentric model of the universe of Ptolémée were counted. According to Kuhn, Novara was close to the Néo-platonicien S of Florence and reproached the system of Ptolémée too much complexity for explaining indeed the limpid order of the Nature.
