Dome of Milan

The cathedral of Milan (or Duomo di Milano , in Italian) is located on the piazza del Duomo, with Milan, in Italy.

History

Construction begins in 1386 and continues with the XV {{E}} and XVI {{E}} centuries. So several architectural styles can be observed: Gothic, neo-classic and neogothic.

Structure

The Duomo is one of the highest cathedrals in the world (the first being that of Cologne) and the larger third after Saint-Augustin de Yamoussoukro and the Cathédrale of Seville.

The highest arrow culminates 108 meters.

More: 2000 statues decorate the cathedral like 136 arrows (of which some still added to the 19th century), from where its nickname of “marble hedgehog”.

It is possible to visit the roofs which are very vast.

Painting

In November, period dedicated to San Carlo Borromeo, the fabrics of the monumental cycle are exposed known as “ Quadroni di San Carlo ” of the life of the saint and his miracles, painted by a group of artists of the 17th century to which second It Cerano, It Morazzone and Giulio Cesare Procaccini.
