Comments
This telefilm in black and white is diffused on the first French chain the November 6th 1965. It undoubtedly remains the most known adaptation of the Dom Juan of Molière.The realizer sought, through his telefilm, to reveal the timelessness of the part. He leaves side indeed the reconstitution of time; the actors play without wigs and the decorations do not have anything the baroque of the castles of the time of Molière - on the contrary, the interiors appear Spartans surprisingly.
But it is still more on the route of Dom Juan de Molière, its search personal which Marcel Bluwal insists - he does not hesitate besides to slip into film a reference to the Don Quichotte of Cervantès. The myth of the seduction which usually Dom Juan evokes erases behind the account of a man freed from the fear of God and determined to face his destiny. Scenes of races to horse come in counterpoint to underline the insurance of the character and to emphasize, not without a bit of lyricism, the freedom which it incarnates.
