This season marks the arrival of Don Shula, thanked by Baltimores Colts after their defeat at the time of the Super Bowl. Under the control of Shula, the results become excellent and the Dolphins gain twice the Super Bowl in January 1973 and January 1974. In 1972, Dolphins carry out one perfect season (14 victories in regular season and 3 victories in play-offs) which remains new to date in NFL. The quarterback Bob Griese and the running back Larry Csonka are the two offensive assets of Dolphins while the linebacker Nick Buoniconti is the owner of defense.

Bob Griese leaves the grounds in 1980 following a nasty wound with the shoulder. David Woodley and Don Strock assurrent the interim at the station of quarterback until the arrival of daN Marino in 1983. Don Strock carries out an impressive match in play-offs vis-a-vis the San Diego Chargers at the time of the season 1981 (403 yards gained on master keys and 4 touchdowns). At the time of the four last seasons (2002 - 2005), Dolphins do not manage to be qualified in play-offs. With the search for a quarterback in the line of Bob Griese and daN Marino, Dolphins hope to have made the good choice by recruiting Daunte Culpepper during the summer 2006. In addition to Daunte Culpepper, the best current players are Jason Taylor, Joey Harrington and Zach Thomas. Dolphins however sign a disappointing season 2006 with 6 victories for 10 defeats.
