Dolerite

A dolerite is a magmatic Roche intermediate between the Gabbro and the Basalte. It consists of grains visible with the magnifying glass. Of greenish color, it made up of Plagioclase out of slat (or rod) is included by Pyroxène S. It is a compact rock.

The dolerites can be separate in 2 types:

  • Dolerites with Olivine.
  • Dolerite without olivine.

The term dolerite is often employed to indicate microdiorites and microgabbros.

Variety

  • the Ophite is a Pyrenean dolerite dating from Sorted higher.

  • the Diabase is a faded dolerite of green color.

Doleritic structure

The doleritic structure is made up of crystals out of rods visible with the eye taken in a smaller crystal paste.
