The dolcetto is a Italian Cépage of red grapes.
Origin and geographical distribution
It comes from the north of the Italy. It is classified auxiliary type of vine in DOC. Dolcetto d' Acqui, Dolcetto d' Alba, Dolcetto d' Asti, Dolcetto di Diano d' Alba, Dolcetto di Dogliani, Dolcetto d' Ovada, Dolcetto delle Langhe Monregalesi, Langhe Dolcetto, Pinerolese Dolcetto and Vallée of Aoste.It is classified recommended in the area Piedmont and authorized in Province of Nuoro and Province of Sassari in Sardinia as in the provinces of Savone (Ligurie) and Pescara (the Abruzzi). In 1998, it covered 10.416 ha. One finds of them also small plantations in Argentine.

Maturity is of second time: 15 days after the chasselas.
Technological potential
The bunches and the bays are of intermediate size to large. The bunch is cylindrical. The type of vine is of average strength and a good fertility. It is sensitive to cold of spring, the Mildiou and the Anthracnose.It gives wines of intense red ruby with a pleasant perfume. The best wines having body are alccolic and slightly bitter
