Dodoma
Dodoma is the official Capitale of the Tanzania. Its population is estimated in 2002 at 324.347 inhabitants. It is located in the middle of a producing bean area, seeds, nut, coffee, the, and of tobacco. The area has also breedings of cattle. During Années 1970 appear the first projects to transfer the capital from Dar Es Salaam (the old capital) to Dodoma. The National Assembly was transferred there in February 1996, but to date of many official structures are still in Dar Es Salaam.
Geography
Located about at the center of the country, the city is to 486 km western of the old capital Dar Es Salaam and to 441 km southern of Arusha, the seat of the community of East Africa. Dodoma covers a field of 2.669 square kilometers of which 625 are urbanized. It is also the administrative capital of the area of Dodoma, a great area of high plateaus of the center of the country.
