Documentary Chanel

The Documentary Chanel is a Canadian Television channel specialized in the film diffusion Documentaire S. the chain which diffuses in English is available in the numerical bouquets of principal the câblodistributeurs and suppliers of Satellite television of the Canada.

The chain received its first license as service of specialized television service of category 1 in 2000 and began its operations on September 7th, 2001. It is exploited by a Limited partnership whose principal shareholders were Corus Entertainment (53%), the Société Radio-Canada (29%) and the National office of film of Canada (14%).

In June 2007, the the Council of broadcasting and Canadian telecommunications authorized the sale of the participation of Corus in The Documentary Chanel in the Canadian public telediffusor for the sum of 1 million $.

Corus explained its withdrawal by calling upon a consolidation of the company towards its dedicated services for the women and of the children
