Synopsis

In Hampden Cross-country race General Hospital, in London suburbs, the man of moods and measured with compasses department head to sir Lancelot Spratt, suffering of contusions following an unfortunate fall, becomes the patient of Walking Iris, a kinesitherapist house. Initially recalcitrant, here are which starts to appreciate its soft massages then to covet the beautiful one. During its confinement, its service is entrusted to fringant Doctor Simon Sparrow. The mission of Sparrow will not stop there since Spratt requires of him soon to help it to lose its plumpness to allure Iris…

Comment

It is a comedy a little pataude with the image of one of its protagonists, ventripotent it to sir Lancelot Spratt (James Robertson Justice), which, to allure a jeunette without putting much tact at it, would like to get thinner without depriving itself. The occasion, in any case, for Dick Bogarde, to incarnate last once pimpant it doctor “Sparrow” (“the sparrow”, in French…) contrary to the turbid characters to which it had its international repute. Here, it flirte initially with the russet-red one Untied (Samantha Eggar) before finding the blonde Sonia-Helga (Mylène Demongeot, its partner of the Cavalier black in 1961). Mylene, supposed being Suédoise in the history (a double role of twin sisters), oddly appears (or fortunately) as much Britannique that his/her comrades, having a perfect command of the language of Shakespeare since its training forced by Otto Preminger, in 1957, for the needs for the turning of Hello sadness .
Mais most interesting is perhaps to discover, in backdrop, the daily humdrum routine of a hospital religious foundation of the London suburbs with his/her valiant nuns nurses and its badly trimmed interns. A film of style and humor 100% british which could be looked like a curiosity by the French-speaking people, more especially as its edition DVD in VO has only one English subtitling for the deaf people…
