The town of London is located at the south-west of the province of the Ontario, with the Canada, 240 km in the west of Toronto.
The metropolitan region has a population of approximately 447 286; the city itself has a population of approximately 351 267 (2004) of which 6 000 French-speaking people. Currently, London is the eleventh city by its population in Canada, and the fifth of Ontario.
Founded in 1826, it became a city in 1855. It is called “the city of the forests” (“The Forest City”) because of the number of trees and parks which it shelters. The arena Center John-Labatt is in London.
History
Before the contacts with the European at the 17th century, London was the site of several villages Iroquois. The village with the mouth of the Rivière Thames (“Askumessippi” in the language iroquoise) was called “Kotequogong”. This site was chosen by John Serious Simcoe, lieutenant-governor of the High-Canada, in 1793 for the capital of High-Canada, but London was founded only in 1826 by Thomas Talbot. London kept its bonds with the the United Kingdom during all the 19th century, even during the Rébellion of 1837 in High-Canada and Low-Canada. However, it had there a rebellion carried out by Charles Duncombe.London was the center of a military district during the first and second world war, and there is always a military base in the city.
The business man John Labatt founded the Brasserie Labatt in London in 1847, and Frederick Banting formulated the process of the insulation of the Insuline which it will improve later with the Université of Toronto. The temple of the Canadian medical fame is in London.

The Université of Western Ontario is in London. London also has a college, Fanshawe College, and a center of access of the Boreal Collège.Among attractions of the city, one counts small a Parc set of themes, Storybook Gardens.
