Dobrica Ćosić
Dobrica Ćosić , or Dobritsa Tchossitch , in Serb Cyrillic ДобрицаЋосић (born in 1921 with Velika Drenova, close to Trstenik, in the center of the Serbia), is a Politician and a writer Serbe. He was the first President of the Federal republic of Yugoslavia of the June 15th 1992 at June 1st 1993. Its admirors regard it as “the Father of the Serb Nation” because of its early and moderate nationalist engagement.
Biography
In 1939, Dobrica Ćosić joined Communist youths with Negotin.
In April 1941, when Germany Nazi E invades the Yugoslavia (inserting it in the Second world war), it fights as a resistant Communist to the sides of Tito.
After the war, it occupies of high positions in the State, while taking part in particular in the Commission on Agitation and Propaganda, then while becoming representative of its native area.
After 1963, at the time when Tito considers a decentralization in Yugoslavia, it considers that the Serb population of the country is in danger. In May 1968, in front of the plenum of the Communist party of Serbia, it makes a speech in which it condemns the Yugoslav policy in favor of nationalities. He is opposed particularly to a greater autonomy of the Kosovo and Voïvodine.
In 1968, from now on considered as a dissenting because of its Serb nationalism, Dobrica Ćosić is excluded from the Communist party Yugoslav and placed under house arrest.
In the years 1980, after the death of Tito, it continues to be made lawyer of the Serb populations.
Continuing its literary career in parallel, he becomes member of the Serb Académie of Sciences and Arts.
In 1989, it ratifies the election of Slobodan Milošević as President de Serbie. And in 1991, it appuye the rise of Radovan Karadžić with the head of Serb of Bosnia.
When the war starts in 1991, it firmly supports the effort of war of Serbia.
In 1992, Dobrica Ćosić is elected President of the Federal republic of Yugoslavia, created on the territories of the Serbia and the Montenegro (by integrating the Voïvodine and the Kosovo). But it is évincé capacity by Slobodan Milošević in 1993.
In 2000, it joined the organization Otpor which, by its hostility, played a big role in the fall of Milošević. Thereafter, he declared that if he had known that Otpor was financed by foreign funds, he would not have joined it.
