DoCoMoMo

Docomomo International (sometimes written DoCoMoMo ) is a not-lucrative organization with the purpose whose name in entirety means: International Working Party for Document and Conservation off Buildings, Sites and Neighborhoods off the Modern Movement ( Work group for documentation and the conservation buildings of the modern Movement, their site and their urban unit ).

Its foundation was inspired by the work of Icomos, the International Council for Monuments and Sites ( International counsel for the monuments and sites ) created in 1965. The work of Icomos was concerned with protection and the conservation of the buildings and historic sites, whereas DoCoMoMo was founded to take up the challenge of protection and the conservation of the Modern architecture and the promotion of the Urbanisme.

DoCoMoMo was founded with Eindhoven in 1988 by the architects Dutch Hubert-Jan Henket and Wessel de Jonge. Hubert-Jan Henket chaired DoCoMoMo with Wessel de Jonge as assistant until 2002, when the international Secretariat was delocalized in Paris. He is currently lodged by the French Institut of architecture in the Cité of architecture and the inheritance.

DoCoMoMo holds of the seminars on publications at the same time sets of themes and techniques. The seminars DoCoMoMo ISC/T covered the following sets of themes: the restoration of the reinforced concrete structures, of the curtain facades, windows and glass, wood and the modern Movement, the colors in the modern architecture, and hones it in the modern buildings.

The seminars are often held in building-headlights of the modern Movement, such as for example at the time of the seminar of 2003 in the Bibliothèque of Vyborg built by Alvar Aalto.

Much country has their DoCoMoMo national association, either belonging to an academic establishment, or as an architectural federation.
