Djebel Chambi
The Djebel Chambi (rear RTL جبلالشعانبي) is the name given to the mountainous solid mass ( Djebel ) which includes/understands the culminating point of the Tunisia (1544 m).
Located at the mid-west of the country, 17 kilometers in the North-East of the town of Kasserine and at a few kilometers of the border Algerian, one cannot reach it by a way borrowed by the cross-country vehicles until an altitude of 1300 meters. Thereafter, a Randonnée one duration 2 hours gives access the top. In fact the Tunisian Scouts, the shortly after independence placed a metal crescent there to mark their rise.
It constitutes one of the tops of the Tébessa mounts attached to the chain of the Tunisian Dorsale. This mountain Calcaire is deeply notched and gullied by the erosion. It is covered with a Flore and of a typical fauna of a semi-arid medium because the Pluviométrie remains limited to 250 mm of precipitations per annum in plain and to 500 in altitude. A very light coat Neige ux can cover the top during the winter.
The National park of Chambi is inaugurated in 1980 in order to protect the natural environment from the solid mass.
