Diving mask
A diving mask is equipment of plunged subaqueous which makes it possible the plungers to correctly see under water.
Use
The principle of the diving mask is to keep the cornea in contact with air so that it can play its part of Réfraction. This equipment is used indifferently for the diving in apnea, the plunged with tuba, or the Plongée underwater.
Construction
A mask is composed of a plate glass placed in front of the eyes and of a skirt in Caoutchouc or Silicone, intended to create a hermetic seal between glass and the face of the plunger. There exist also diving masks out of plastic, but they are recommended very little, with some exceptions. The current diving masks are generally out of glass tempered, either binocular or monoverres (being able to correct the sight for masks to measure). The first limit the quantity of air in the mask, the seconds allow a broader vision and thus are adapted to the beginners. To limit the volume of gas is very important in apnea to reduce as much as possible the pulmonary quantity of air devoted to compensate for the hydrostatic Pression being exerted on the mask.
History
The first representation of a known diving mask is an engraving Persian 14th century but it really became popular starting from the Années 1940.
