History

  • 1790 : creation of the department of the Marne with 6 districts: Châlons-sur-Marne, Épernay, Rheims, Holy-Menehould, Sézanne, Vitry-le-François
  • 1800: creation of the districts: Châlons-sur-Marne, Épernay, Rheims, Holy-Menehould, Vitry-le-François
  • 1926: removal of the district of Holy-Menehould
  • 1940: restoration of the district of Holy-Menehould

Châlons-sur-Marne became Châlons-in-Champagne in 1995
