History

1790 : creation of the department of the Haute-Saône with 6 districts: Champlitte, Gray, Jussey, Lure, Luxeuil, Vesoul
1793: fastening of the principality of Montbeliard annexed, which constitutes one 7th district
1797: the district of Montbeliard is detached from the Haute-Saône and attached to the Mount-Terrible
1800: the chief town of the department is moved of Gray with Vesoul
1800: creation of the districts: Gray, Lure, Vesoul
1926: removal of the district of Gray
