History

• 1790 : creation of the department of the Dordogne with 9 districts: Belvès, Bergerac, Excideuil, Montignac, Montpon, Nontron, Périgueux, Ribérac, Sarlat
• 1800: creation of the districts: Bergerac, Nontron, Périgueux, Ribérac, Sarlat
• 1926: removal of the district of Ribérac
