History

• 1790 : creation of the Corsica department of
• 1793: separation of Corsica in 2 departments, of which the Liamone, which corresponds to the Corse-du-Sud current, with 3 districts: Ajaccio, Vicco, Tallano
• 1800: creation of the districts: Ajaccio, Sartène, Vico
• 1811: removal of the department of Liamone, restoration of the department of Corsica
• 1976: creation of 2 departments: Corse-du-Sud (Ajaccio, Sartène) and Haute-Corse
