• 1790 : creation of the department of Yonne with 7 districts: Auxerre, Avallon, Joigny, Saint-Fargeau, Saint-Florentin cheese, Direction, Thunder
• 1800: creation of the districts: Auxerre, Avallon, Joigny, Direction, Thunder
• 1926: removal of the districts of Joigny and Tonnerre
