History

  • 1790 : creation of the department of Two-Sevres with 6 districts: Châtillon, Miss, Niort, Parthenay, Saint-Maixent, Thouars
  • 1800: creation of the districts: Miss, Niort, Parthenay, Thouars
  • 1804: the sub-prefecture of Thouars is moved in Bressuire
  • 1926: removal of the districts of Bressuire and Miss
  • 1942: restoration of the district of Bressuire

in 1965, Châtillon-on-Separates and Saint-Jouin-Châtillon amalgamate to form Mauléon
