History

• 1790 : creation of the department of Indre with 6 districts: Nickle silver, the White, Chateauroux, Châtillon-on-Indre, Châtre, Issoudun
• 1800: creation of the districts: The White, Châtre, Chateauroux, Issoudun
• 1926: removal of the district of Issoudun
• 1942: restoration of the district of Issoudun

Argenton became Nickle silver-on-Hollow in 1958
