District of the Gruyere

The district of the Gruyere (in German Bezirk Greyerz , in patois Gruérien Grevire ) is one of the seven districts of the canton of Freiburg. Bulle is the chief town. The Gruyere has a surface of 489,41 km ² and counts 40  309 inhabitants (2003). Its currency is " Transvolat nubila virtus" (" Courage exceeds the nuages")

One currently counts 28 communes in the district.
