District of Shapotou

The district of Shapotou (沙坡头区; Pinyin: Shāpōtóu Qū) is an administrative subdivision of the autonomous region of the Ningxia in China. It is placed under the jurisdiction of the city-prefecture of Zhongwei.

Geography

The area is located at the southern end of the Désert of Tengger, which extends mainly on the territory from the Mongolia-Interior Ligue from Alxa in . It is crossed by the river Huang He.

Stabilization of the dunes

An experimental research station studies the progression and the methods of stabilization of the Dune S of Sable. The zones stabilized in the Années 1950 are used for the fruit-bearing and viticultural culture.
