District of Moutier

The district of Moutier is one of the 26 districts canton of Bern in Suisse. It is one of the 3 entirely French-speaking districts of the Canton of Bern and constitutes the area of the the Bernese Jura with the 2 other French-speaking districts of the canton, the district of Courtelary and the district of Neuveville. The commune of Moutier is the chief town of the district. This one had a population of 23.017 inhabitants at December 31st, 2005. Its surface is of 217 km ² and counts 26 communes:

Economy

The economy of the district of Moutier is firstly centered on the secondary industry (industry and building) which occupies more half of the population. The 80% of the industrial production of the district are exported.
