District of Glâne
The District of Glâne (all. Glânebezirk ) is one of the seven districts of the canton of Freiburg. The chief town is Romont and the Prefect of Glâne is Jean-Claude Cornu. The district counts 18 ' 975 inhabitants (2003) and makes 169.08 km ² surface.

History
The district of Glâne belonged formerly to the Maison of Savoy which exerted there its authority by the Lords of Bridge, of Rue and of the counts of Romont. In 1482, Freiburg buys the Seigniory of Bridge and in 1956, Romont and Rue were given to Freiburg which constituted them in Bailliage S.
