The district of Argenteuil is a French administrative division , located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France. Although located in the Val-d'Oise, department of Large crown, its reduced size and its strong Urbanisation bring it closer to the districts of the Petite crown.

Situation

In the North-West of Paris, the district of Argenteuil is bordering on its two neighbors valdoisiens, the Arrondissement of Sarcelles in the North-East and the Arrondissement of Pontoise in north. In the west, it is bordering on the Arrondissement of Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer in the Yvelines, in the east of the Arrondissement of Saint-Denis in the Seine-Saint-Denis and in the south, it borders the Arrondissement of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine).

History

Appeared in the old department of Seine-et-Oise, disappeared on January 1st 1968, the district was created in 1966 by a decree of June 2nd, in preparation for the installation of the department of the Val-d'Oise. It was composed in the beginning of the cantons of Argenteuil-North, Argenteuil-South and of Cormeilles-in-Parisis.
