The district of Ambert is a French administrative division , located in the department of the Puy-de-Dôme and the area Auvergne.
Composition
Removed between 1926 and 1942, the district found, since 1942, the composition which had been his of 1800 (year VIII) to 1926.-
Canton of Ambert, which groups 9 communes:
- Ambert, Champétières, Forie, Job, Marsac-in-Livradois, Saint-Ironwood-of-Coasts, Saint-Martin-of-Olmes the, Thiolières and Valcivières;

Canton of Arlanc, which groups 9 communes:
- Arlanc, Beurières, Chaumont-the-Borough, Doranges, Gilds-the Church, Mayres, Novacelles, Saint-Alyre-with Arlanc and Saint-Saver-the-Sagne;

Canton of Cunlhat, which groups 4 communes:
- Auzelles, Bush, the Vault-Agnon and Cunlhat;

Canton of Olliergues, which groups 6 communes:

Canton of Saint-Lover-Rock-Savine, which groups 5 communes:
- Bertignat, Grandval, Monestier, Saint-Lover-Rock-Savine and Saint-Éloy-the-Refrigerator;

Canton of Saint-Anthème, who groups 5 communes:
- Chaulme, Grandrif, Saint-Anthème, Saint-Clement-with-Valorgue and Saint-Romain;

Canton of Saint-Germain-the Herm, who groups 10 communes:

Canton of Viverols, which groups 7 communes:
- Baffie, Églisolles, Medeyrolles, Projecting, Saint-Just, Sauvessanges and Viverols.

3 communes except district are adherent with the SIVOM of Ambert: Domaize, Ceilloux and Turn-on-Meymont.

To check that the 8 cantons all had been attached to the Arrondissement of Thiers or if they “had been ventilated” between several districts.
