District Walk Orange
The district of Orange Walk is a district in the North-West of Belize. The capital of the district is Orange Walk Town. According to the census of 2000, the district of Walk Orange had a Population of 39.760 inhabitants.
Geography
The cities are also found and villages of Carmelita, Guinea Grass Town, San Estevan, Yo Creek, San Jose, San Pablo, Shipyard, Indian Church, San Carlos Trial Farm, San Felipe, August Pine Ridge, San Lazaro, Trinidad and San Roman. District Walk the Orange also includes/understands the old ruins Maya of Lamanai.One finds in the districts two major rivers, the Rio Hondo, which partly constitute the fontière with the Mexico, and New River. The greatest stretch of water of the country, New To rivet Lagoon, is also located in this district.
Economy
The economy of the district is based mainly on the Agriculture, with the Canne with sugar like principal culture. This monoculture is slowly being replaced by alternative cultures (Potato, Oignon S and Soja). Another activity in full rise is tourism.
Population
District Walk the Orange is the third larger district of the country in surface. Its capital, Orange Walk Town, is also called " Sugar City" (to pronounce shuga city ) by the local population. The population of the district comprises many Métis Maya, descendants of Mexican refugees who fled in 1840 the Guerre of Castes. Many villages of the district habritent communities of Mennonites German, creole S, and Maya Ketchi.
