A disposable cellphone , or disposable mobile phone , makes it possible to transmit telephone calls like a traditional Mobile phone. It with the characteristic to be disposable after its use; it is not intended to be preserved. It is about a concept complementary to the traditional cellphones, which can appear useful in the event of lapse of memory, of loss, voyage in a foreign country, or for the children.

History

The patent of the disposable mobile phone at summer deposited in 1999 by American of the New Jersey named Randi Altschul. The idea would have come to him one day from irritation in a congestion: after a conversation, she would have liked to throw her mobile by the window of her vehicle. She then decided to join an engineer to create her company. The first prototype goes back to 2001. In 2003, this concept was not adopted yet in Europe.

Characteristics

This apparatus is presented in the shape of a traditional cellphone without screen. It does not have memory; it is thus necessary to compose the number of its correspondent using the numbered keys from 0 to 9. Certain models do not have a keyboard: it is then a system of voice recognition which composes the stated phone number. It is provided with a pedestrian kit. It can be sold in version paper or plastic. It is size of a credit card, and has a refillable battery. Its cost is on average of 23 € for 60 minutes of communication, this without contract. However it is possible to reload the credit of communication by the purchase of a simple refill.

Operation

Internal connections are carried out by a conducting ink on paper instead of printed circuits. The use of the auricle-microphone and conducting ink allows a reduction of the size of the apparatus. The transmission of a call is carried out by the propagation of the signal of telephone out of telephone to lead on a telephone rather close to an antenna of the network, which will transmit the call. This implies a putting into circulation of a rather significant number of telephones of this technology, in order to ensure the transmission of the signals.

Marketing

The company created by the holder of the patent names Dieceland. This company presented its first prototype in 2001 but the company still does not have a Web site.
Aujourd'hui this type of product is marketed only with the the United States by the company Hop one. It is notable that the latter also markets cellphones " classiques".
Le gone of the disposable cellphone thus does not return in conflict with that of the mobile phones which we know well. The latter offer many functionalities (camera, WAP, personal diary, management of a repertory telephone, plays…) and of personalization which became indissociable of their use. On the contrary the disposable one brings the following advantages: it is a prepaid card thus without contract, light, small, has a kit freehands finally and especially which can be recycled and disposable. Its use is very different. What explains the targeted customers: the children, the people travels from there in a foreign country where them usual network does not function, people having a small budget or in the event of loss, breakdown or of lapse of memory of its portable.
