Disneyland Paris Railroad

Disneyland Paris Railroad or of its name of origin Euro Disneyland Railroad is the train encircling the park with topic Disneyland Paris. It is mainly built on the hillock surrounding the park.

Initial EDRR for Euro Disneyland Railroad is still visible at several places of the park of which ironwork of the station of Main Street the USA.

The way and stations

The way of the railroad did not undergo any change since the opening in 1992 of the park. It should however be specified that a passage was dug under the way between the labyrinth of Alice and the mill Old Mill in order to reach an added zone fine 1993. A little further one station was built in November 1992 in Discoveryland with the top the shop Star Traders . Contrast between the trains end 19th century and the futuristic environment of this country is fortunately softened by the retro-futuristic principle of Space Mountain. Apart from this additional station, the Disneyland Paris Railroad account three other stations: Hand Street the USA, Frontierland and Fantasyland. All are built on the interior side of the way.

Trains

The four trains are works of two Imagineer S of Disney: Tom York and Louis Lemoine under the direction of Eddie Sotto which was the artistic director for Main Street the USA. The old initial ones of the train were worth with Eddie Sotto some sarcastic remarks, it is possible to read them like the Ed' S Railroad . They take as a starting point those preserved in the museums Henry Ford and Greenfield Village in the Michigan (E. - U.) and by that of Sacramento in California (E. - U.).

With the difference of those built in the parks preceding Disney, the coaches and the engine of each train were conceived like a coherent entity. Each train comprises an engine, a tender and five cars (for the passengers). The cars are open on with dimensions interior of the way and are glazed on the three others with dimensions. They are heated during the winter season. The names of the trains can be associated with the sections with the parks served by the stations. But because of a possible double interpretation, associations can be done as follows:

Hand Street the USA: C.K. Holliday (birth of the train) or George Washington (birth of the USA)
Fantasyland: C.K. Holliday (tourist cities and imagination) or George Washington (British nationality, situation of the station in the British section)

Frontierland : Eureka (California and myth of the gold rush) or W.F. Cody (Buffalo Bill)
Discoveryland: Eureka (Archimedes and discoveries) and W.F. Perhaps Cody (which came to Paris in 1902, and crossed Jules Verne and HG Wells)

NR. 1 W.F. Cody

The train N° 1 is baptized according to the true name of Buffalo Bill, William Frederic Cody . For this reason it adopts a topic very related to the American west. The lantern before engine is decorated with a dash and is surmounted by wood of stag.

The coaches are colors gold and green and are named according to places and areas of the west: Silverton (with the Colorado), Durango , Denver , Wichita and Cheyenne .

NR. 2 C.K. Holliday

The train N° 2 takes the name of Cyrus Kurtz Holliday founder of the line Santa Fe Railroad in 1859. Because of the departure of this line from New England towards the town of Santa Fe, the coaches bear the place name of holiday of this area of the North-East of the United States: Coney Island , Atlantic City , Chesapeake , Long Island and Niagara Falls .

the train NR. 1 C.K. Holliday of the Disneyland Railroad bears also this name.

NR. 3 George Washington

George Washington was the first president of the United States of America. For this reason the train N° 3 adopts colors blue, white and red, commune with the Great Britain, France and the incipient American nation. The coaches bear the names of the stages of the career of this politician: Mount Vermont , Boston , Philadelphia , Yorktown and Valley Forges

NR. 4 Eureka

The train N° 4 was added a few months after the opening jointly with 'Discoveryland Station . Its name comes at the same time from the legendary cry thorough by the Californian minors at the beginning of the Gold rush in 1848 and of Eureka! celebrates it formula used by Archimedes at the time of its discovery of the pushed same name .

To preserve a resemblance to the other coaches and because of the gold rush, the coaches bear the names of cities California born: Los Angeles , Monterey , Sacramento , San Diego and San Francisco .
