Dismember

Dismember is a group of Death metal Swedish.

History

Beginnings

Dismember is formed with Stockholm in 1988. This pioneer of the Death metal Swedish (following the example Entombed and Unleashed) articulates himself around the trio formed by the guitarist Dave Blomqvist, the bass player singer Robert Sennebäck and the beater Fred Estby. But 18 months and 2 demonstrations later, Dismember is dissolved…

Dave Blomqvist (after a short passage at Nihilist/Entombed) and Fred Estby join Carnage while Robert Sennebäck integrates Unleashed. But Carnage is in its turn dissolved in 1991. Dave and Fred choose to reactivate Dismember with the assistance of the singer of Carnage Matti Karki (future At The Gates and Therion, but also Carbonized, General Surgery and Murder Squad). Robert Sennebäck reinstates Dismember in the post of guitarist, while Richard Cabeza (resulting from the group of death experimental Carbonized) takes care of low. Dismember holds then a solid line up . It will hold 7 years…

Recognition

After one 3rd demonstration, the group records with the Sunlight studio its 1st album " Like year Ever Flowing Stream " for the account of Nuclear Blast. A surging European round in company of Morbid Angel is followed from there. In 1992 the group connects with a EP then a new round with Napalm Death and Obituary. In 1993 them 2nd album " Indescent and Obscene " assoit definitively their reputation of leader of the Swedish scene death.

The following years passed on the American roads. The round in company of Meshuggah, Hypocrisy, Amorphis and Benediction is a success. In 1995 them 3rd album " Massive Killing Capacity " (preceded by maximum) reveals a riper group, with the style heavy, hooker and full with groove… Dismember is at the top of its creativity and its popularity.

The fall of mode

But gradually Swedish raises the foot and must face the development of the movement Black metal like with a new wave of very justified groups. In 1997 the group again leaves maximum (with a resumption of the American legend Autopsy) then a one 4th album entitled " Death Metal" quite simply…

In 1998, Robert Sennebäck and Richard Cabeza leave the group. They will be replaced station for station by Magnus Sahlgren (ex- Lake off Tears) and Sharlee of Angelo (which played with Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, Arch Enemy, etc).

Again complete, Dismember goes back to work but the last years relegated in a quasi-lapse of memory these precursors of the Swedish death. Their 5th album " Haste Campain " in 2000 in a polished indifference leaves. Thereafter Sharlee D' Angelo takes the tangent and Richard Cabeza reinstates his station. Apart from a republication d'" Indescent and Obscene" in 2002, the news is done rare… In 2003 it is Magnus Sahlgren which draws its révérance, it is replaced by wrongfully ignored Martin Persson (ex- Berserk, Frasse Haraldsen and Sins Of Omission, guest for Mörk Gryning and Thyrfing).

Rebirth

After 4 years of absence discographic Dismember is of return. Their DVD and especially them 6th album " Where Ironcrosses Grow " (always produced by Fred Estby) reveal us a group in full form.

But the waltz of the musicians continues since Richard Cabeza was constrained to leave Dismember, his American wife not having obtained the authorization to be confined in Sweden. It will ensure nevertheless the next American round of the group before leaving its place to Johan Bergebäck (Necrophobic and ex- Morpheus). It should be noted that Cabeza takes part in the groups Carbonized, Born off Fire, Damnation, Dark Funeral, General Surgery, Murder Squad and Unanimated.

In January 2005 Dismember, removed from its contract the binder with Karmageddon Media, sign at Renewal. A compilation of demonstrations will follow and open the way with a republication of all their old albums.
