Discovered of America

The Découverte of America is the expression usually employed to indicate the discovery of the Nouveau World by a group of Europeans ordered by Christophe Colomb in the night of the 11 with the October 12th 1492. It approaches then with less than one hundred men divided in three ships - Pinta , the Nina and Santa Maria of which he was admiral - an island of the the Caribbean of the name of Guanahani (San Salvador).

It is about one crucial moment in the modern history and that of humanity. It marks the meeting, brutal and forces, of two worlds which had evolved/moved independently without never really knowing the existence of the other.

At the time of its first voyage in 1492, Christophe Colomb thought of having unloaded with the " the Indies " , countered with the legendary richnesses described inter alia by the accounts of Marco Polo. Persuaded to have reached the the Far East, he died without knowing that he had discovered the America.

From this simple point of view the fact rises that traditionally Christophe Colomb is regarded as being that which discovered the American continent. Nevertheless it should not be forgotten that it before discovered and had been already inhabited since several tens of thousands of years by populations having developed very brilliant civilizations. Also the expression " Discovered of Amérique" highly was criticized and shown eurocentrist by the populations of American origin, various social movements, of the American politicians like by various specialists.

The Discrimination and the Invisibilisation of the original cultures of America on behalf of the European colonizers constituted an intentional and systematic policy, so much so that they wondered whether the inhabitants had a heart.

The whole of these reflections led the historians to evoke more adequate expressions such as " The arrival of Christophe Colomb in Amérique" or " The arrival of the Spaniards in Amérique" . One uses also possibly the expressions " The Conquest of America " or " the invasion of Amérique" to indicate the process of discovered and occupation of the New World starting from its discovery. Some supported that the use of the expression " Discovered of Amérique" was to be reserved on arrival of the first men in America. The American continent having been reached initially by the Viking S (as well the Legends of North as some archeological sites attest it).

Another paramount question arises as for the discovery of the American continent: for which reasons Christophe Colomb it was the first in Americas whereas the Chinese Empire laid out at the time of a fleet much more powerful and had been the cradle many crucial inventions?

Physical, economic and political considerations can explain this fact.

Already, the Pacific Ocean, contrary to the Atlantique is extremely vast and constraining; the crossing more complex and is animated there.

In the name of the Kings Catholiques of Spain, Christophe Colomb carried out four voyages from Europe in America in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. At the time of the first voyage for the America, it unloaded on an island of the the Bahamas called Guanahani, of which the exact localization is still discussed. At the time of the third voyage it unloaded on the continent on the level of current the Venezuela. Moreover, Christophe Colomb carried out other more known voyages under the names of " voyages mineurs" or " voyages andalous" . Amerigo Vespucci took part in these first voyages. One allotted the fact to him of having been the first European to evoke the fact that the grounds that Christophe Colomb had discovered were not Asia but actually the Nouveau World.
